Guild Raiding/Policy Update - Nov 19 2008

Wrath of the Lich King DKP
This policy covers all 25-man WotLK raids. For any raid that is not a part of our official 25-man progression track, loot will be handled at the discretion of that team's raid leader. The policy is subject to change and manual adjustment and will be monitored and administered by the DKP Officer, Raid Leaders and Officer Corps.

A brief explanation of LoE’s loot philosophy
Progression is LoE's first priority. As we progress, the gear earned best serves the raid's goals in the hands of players who ideally meet the R1 expectation; that is players who can attend nearly 100% of our raids, who constantly strive to improve themselves, who have a team mentality and a great attitude about seeing bosses die. Raid ranks reflect a measure of how invested and reliable each player is to the raid team.

LoE uses DKP as a means to naturally distribute loot in a way that reflects time invested. To achieve this in a way that allows us to make the most of our limited time in instances fighting bosses, we allocate loot fairly quickly. We rely on players to know the loot tables in advance, know their strongest upgrades from sidegrades and be considerate to their team mates. We are all here to beat content together, not to gear up in side-grades and off-spec gear at the expense of progression.

Communication is very important. Many players are using wish lists in their respective class forums to make their loot priorities known and to keep discussion outside of the raid.

Earning DKP
Each LoE raid is worth 5 DKP points. One point is awarded at raid start and four points are awarded at raid close. In some instances, per raid leader's discretion, extra DKP will be awarded to reward focus and dedication in downing a particularly hard boss or encounter. To record the potential DKP, an announcement will be made at the start of the raid for stand-bys to join. A snapshot will be taken at this time and everyone present will be awarded 1 DKP. Players not selected for 1 of the 25 slots that evening can then leave the raid but should be available in case we need a replacement. At the raids completion another announcement will be made for the stand-bys to once again join the raid. Another snapshot will be recorded and all players in the raid at that time will receive 4 additional DKP for the total of 5.

Trials will enter the system with 0 DKP and accrue DKP for the raids they attend. Trials may only bid 0 until they are promoted.

Looting and Bidding DKP
Looting will be done by the DKP Officer, who will then announce that an item is up for bid. If you are interested in bidding on an item, send a whisper to the officer with the amount of your bid. The officer will consult the DKP standings and rank priority before awarding loot. In order to keep the time spent looting to a minimum; there will be a 20 second time limit for accepting bids.

Quote:

- Main spec will be awarded over off-spec, regardless of bid.
- Please append "off-spec" to your bid if the item is for an off-spec set.
- In case of a tie, items will be awarded to the ranking player with the highest DKP, in that order.
- Bid only in increments of 5 DKP: 0, 5, 10, 15, 20.
- For bids greater than 10, R1 raiders have priority over R2 raiders.
- Trials may only bid 0

Quote:
Crown of the Wayward Vanquisher.
20 seconds left for bids. Please whisper Salty with a bid between 0 and 20. Add "off-spec" if your bid is for an off-spec item.

Other Practices and Guidelines
  • DKP deductions will be kept in real time. Attendance DKP will be granted and the web-site will be updated at the end of the raid.
  • Tier-piece tokens will always be bid on first.
  • Trash drop epics are 0 DKP and awarded on the basis of Need/Greed rolls; players may roll Need for main-spec upgrades and Greed for off-spec upgrades or side-grades.
  • Players may only bid up to their maximum banked DKP minus DKP spent during that raid. If you bid more than you have, your bid will not be considered. You cannot go negative.
  • Please leave ventrilo clear during looting for questions about bids/loot and the raid leader. Many players talk in their role channels (/loeheals, /loetanks, /loehunters, etc), which is encouraged.
Credits and Adjustments to DKP
Credits to the DKP system will be conducted at the end of a raid. Those points will become available to use during the next raid. If a player feels that there has been an error in their DKP credit or a miscalculation otherwise, please notify the DKP Officer.

DKP Decay and Compression
A player who falls behind in attendance may be subject to DKP decay. Attendance is measured via raid snapshots at the beginning and end of every raid period. Players who routinely miss starting or ending snapshots or who do not sign up for raids may find their DKP value being reduced over time. This is based on a rolling 60-day average.

All DKP totals will be compressed between new raiding Tiers to help prevent any DKP inflation that takes place while the current content is on farm. An example of how this might work is: the player with the current highest DKP will have his or her DKP set to 40 and the player with the lowest DKP will have his or her DKP set to 5. Everything will be scaled appropriately so that the same rank ordering exists; only the absolute values will change. These values are subject to change.

Exceptions
Progression remains the first and, in many ways, the only priority of LoE. There are times when it may be in the best interests of this goal to override strict DKP rules and award certain pieces to players with lower totals.

If the Raid Council decides that an exception to these rules needs to be made to best benefit the raid team, that decision will be discussed with the concerned parties before the loot is awarded. For example: Some players are asked to perform multiple roles depending on the encounter and off-spec gear may be distributed first to support those functions.

For example, at the start of a new tier of raiding or a new instance, we will almost always want Tier pieces to land in the hands of tanks before other players.
